Binfield FC Chairman Bob Bacon Gives Us A Close Insight Into How Binfield FC Overcame The Pandemic!

With uncertain times bringing an edge of suspense to the grassroots game, Binfield FC Chairman Bob Bacon gives us an exclusive interview on how the community came together to help Binfield FC during the global pandemic.

After many days and months living through a pandemic as a small community football club, the chairman states there was an “Extreme pressure to do the right thing”, not only towards the community but also towards the club, their staff and also the 400+ players and parents that the club have signed to them.

Alongside the pressure and uncertain times during the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Binfield community came together to help out and helped provide a strong presence of community effort towards the club, which was a “massive positive”.

During lockdown, these individuals felt like they needed to give something back into their community so we let them in”. Binfield FC let in the wide community to help out, whether that be painting the dugouts, providing help with the catering supplies or even scrubbing tables in the clubhouse! Each effort was extraordinary from all volunteers during lockdown, which brought the community engagement in closer during the worldwide pandemic.

Not only did the volunteers help around the clubhouse and also around the community, Binfield FC felt like they needed to play their part in the Covid-19 pandemic and decided to start a charity fundraiser for CRY (Cardiac Risk In The Young). #BinfieldXBondi was the famous hashtag chosen, which sparked a huge presence on social media as all players from unders 8s to First Team ran on the streets to help raise money.

“I’m really chuffed by it Chloe. A volunteer-run football club is about people saying “don’t worry Bob, I’ll do it!” and these guys delivered…”

With an aim of raising £1,000 for the chosen charity, Binfield FC and it’s community smashed the raise by a whopping £2,260, proving a real connection between the club and also it’s community engagement towards a good cause.
